You can read that piece here.
Yesterday was Victor Tilley’s last day at the head of the Red Herring chain of stores… and today, 29thJune is officially the first day for new owner Anthony “Macka” Wilson.
Below are a few words from ‘Macka’ lifted from Red Herring’s Instagram feed and celebrating the change of ownership.
“It’s an exciting day for my family and our team, we’re really looking forward to what the future holds for Red Herring”.
“Victor and I have been mates for a long time, we were founders of our industry association and have a lot of time and respect for each other. We really want to build on the legacy and culture that Victor and his team have created.
“We’re really thankful that all of the Store Managers and crew in store have put their trust in us and are all joining us for the next chapter of Red Herring. We’ve gotten to know the team over the past few months and are really grateful for their support.
“While many things will be the same, there will also be some differences over time. We have some plans that we are excited about that we will roll out over the next couple of months, including adding some new brands and products to the lineup.
It’s the biggest business decision I’ve ever made and we’re really focused on doing the best we can for our friends and customers”.
“Please bear with us over the coming weeks, we’ve done a lot of work to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible but no doubt there will be a hiccup or two.
“One last thing! I’ve been asked a bunch of times so let me say straight up that no, we won’t be changing the name. Red Herring is an icon, for me there’s 47 years history to celebrate – not walk away from.”
